The UK's largest banks must seek growth through mergers and acquisitions in the near-term, according to an analyst's report from Merrill Lynch.

With domestic consolidation of the UK financial services industry hampered by regulatory constraints, the UK's top banks must look abroad for acquisitions or merger partners.
