UK court dismisses SFO’s Barclays-Qatar charges

A UK court has dismissed charges brought against Barclays by the Serious Fraud Office over a series of fundraisings conducted by the bank during the financial crisis.

The decision is another step towards reputational recovery for the bank, which is looking to move on from a multibillion-dollar settlement for the misselling of mortgage-backed securities in the US and a whistleblowing scandal involving its chief executive, Jes Staley.
