UK private equity activity rebounds in third quarter

Strong period of activity follows a slow start to the year, with deal numbers hitting a five-year high

The UK private equity market enjoyed its busiest period in five years during the third quarter, marking a strong rebound in activity following a slow start to the year.

There were 107 buyouts of UK businesses between July and September, according to BDO's Private Company Price Index/Private Equity Price Index. This compares with 79 deals during the same period last year, and ranks as the busiest three-month period since the second quarter of 2009, when 115 deals were recorded.
