UK venture capitalists have become increasingly gloomy about the prospect of an economic upturn, according to Deloitte & Touche's third-quarter Private Equity Confidence Survey.

Of the 770 venture capitalists surveyed, 80% of respondents expect the UK economic climate to decline over the next six months, an increase in pessimism from 55% in last quarter's survey.
