UK wealth adviser boosts margins to 48%

Hargreaves Lansdown, a UK-listed financial adviser to affluent individuals, boosted its operating profit margins from 41% to an extraordinary 48% in the year to June.

The firm, started by Stephen Lansdown and Peter Hargreaves, also revealed a 9% increase in assets under administration to £11.1bn, despite a fall in the FTSE All Share index of 16% during its reporting period.
