Italy’s biggest bank, UniCredit, has put a series of emergency measures in place for staff, following the outbreak of the Covid-19 coronavirus in the north of the country over the weekend.

UniCredit has taken “specific measures to protect its employees and clients” against the spread of the virus, it said in a statement on 23 February. It is encouraging staff in the worst-affected towns to work remotely, and has banned all non-essential travel.
