Cracks are emerging in Europe’s equities landscape following Mifid’s sweeping changes

The European Union’s much-discussed markets in financial instruments directive has brought sweeping changes to the continent’s equity markets, notably the emergence of five upstart trading systems to challenge centuries-old exchanges.

One of these systems - Chi-X Europe - is close to overtaking Germany's Deutsche Börse as the continent's third-largest blue-chip stock market.
