US exchanges to close for Ford funeral

The New York Stock Exchange and Nasdaq are set to close all day on January 2 in honour of former US president Gerald Ford, who died on December 26, aged 93.

Both exchanges confirmed today that they would close on Tuesday, when the former president's funeral will be held. The NYSE halted trading for two minutes the day after Ford's death.
