City investment bankers at Wall Street-headquartered companies are seeing their pay grow faster than peers at European banks

European investment banks in the City of London are facing tough conversations with their employees around bonuses, as the gap in pay between them and their US-based rivals is widening.

Last year UK and continental investment banks fell behind other global organisations in the race for market share. As a result, their employees’ pay will shrink this year. Meanwhile, increasingly successful US-headquartered organisations in the City are generally shelling out more.
