Venture backed investment in internet companies falls

Investment in venture-backed companies has declined slightly for the second quarter in a row, driven by a fall in the business and consumer service sectors of the internet.

According to the latest statistics released by VentureOne, venture-backed companies raised $16.1bn (€18bn) in 879 rounds of financing globally in the third quarter of 2000 - a 6% drop in investment and a 16% reduction in deal flow from last quarter.
