Visa files for $18.7bn IPO in the US

Visa, the credit card company, has filed for the largest initial public offering by a US company which could also become the second biggest global flotation if it prices at the top of its range and exercises its over-allotment option.

JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Bank of America, Citigroup, HSBC, Merrill Lynch, UBS and Wachovia are joint bookrunning managers for the potential $18.7bn (€12.6bn) initial public offering.
