Winterflood cashes in on high-tech boom

Winterflood Securities, the marketmaking division of Close Brothers, has cashed in on the stock market's current love affair with high-tech and internet companies, reports the WSJ.

The merchant bank said yesterday that higher than expected levels of trading on small company stocks meant that Winterflood would contribute 65% of the group's first-half operating profits, compared to 32% last time.
