Winterthur Life UK, the UK life and pensions arm of the Credit Suisse Group, has acquired Colonial UK's life and pensions business for £301m.

The transaction increases Winterthur's assets under management by two and a half times to almost £7bn, placing it in the UK's top 30 insurers by gross premiums written.
