ZFS to use index-linked structure to sell own shares

Zurich Financial Services (ZFS) is to become the first company to use a 'Miles' bond to sell its own shares, having launching a Sfr600m (€406m) issue of the complex instrument.

The bonds, designed by UBS Warburg, convert into shares like an equity-linked bond but the number of shares received is dependent on the performance of the Swiss SMIC index. Miles stands for market index-linked securities.
